Anima

Get an appointment faster with Anima

From 1st October 2026, we have made it easier for you to access GP appointments and other medical services. Our practice now uses Anima, a new online platform where you can submit requests for medical appointments. These are then reviewed and triaged by one of our GPs, who will allocate you the right care.

What is Anima?
Anima is our new online request service. It lets you contact the practice securely online-without waiting on hold or needing an app.

When can I use it? Anima is open 07:30 – 18:30 Monday to Friday.   If we have reached safe capacity for the day, you can still submit routine requests. If your problem cannot wait, you can either go to one of the walk-in centres, dial 111 or for medical emergencies dial 999.

Why have we changed to Anima?

We want all our patients to be seen by the appropriate clinician in the right place and at the right time. This platform helps us to allocate you to the right person quickly and will allow more of our GPs to spend time seeing you.

What can I use Anima for?

  • Appointments
  • Repeat prescriptions
  • Sick notes
  • Admin queries
  • Long-term condition reviews
  • Referrals or follow-up questions

How does it work?

  • Submit your request
  • Your request will be triaged by one of our experienced on-call team and will direct you to the right care
  • You will be informed of the outcome of every requests

I do not have internet access – what now?

Call reception or quickly visit to one of our surgery sites. Our team can submit a request on your behalf and get back to you with the outcome.  You can also ask a family member/friend or carer to submit a request on your behalf.

Capacity

There are occasions where the demand for appointments far outweighs the capacity that can be safely provided.  You will still be able to submit a request for a routine appointment.  You will be notified by text message.

If you cannot access the internet or have trouble navigating this new system, please call reception or come into one of the surgery sites, and one of our friendly staff members will be pleased to help you.   You can also ask a family member/friend or carer to submit a request on your behalf.

Is my data safe? Yes. Anima is certified to NHS and UK government standards. All data stays in the UK and is encrypted.

What happens if I just have a question?

You can submit a question as an Admin request via Anima.  If it is a medical query, but you are not sure which condition or problem, you should select “General Assessment” which allows you to describe in your own words.

Will patients with fewer symptoms be put to the bottom of the appointment list?

Digital triage means that requests are prioritised in order of need.  All requests will be looked at by a GP on the same day where possible and the level of care decided at that point.  That means that patients will be seen at the right time and by the right person.  By doing it this way we give priority to the most poorly of our patients.

Can I still use Anima if I do not have a mobile phone?

Absolutely!! If you do not have a mobile phone, we will simply use your email address to contact you about your request.  If you do not have an email address, we will telephone you on your landline.

Can I use Anima to request a repeat prescription?

Yes, you can submit requests via Anima, through your chosen pharmacy or via the
NHS App.

Why can’t I just get an appointment straight away?

We do not offer appointments immediately, because our triage team need to decide what kind of care you need.  It means that appointments are not fully booked in the “8am rush” like they used to be.

If the triage team decides your problem is urgent, you will be offered an appointment as soon as possible, where possible on the same day.  If your issue is not urgent, but we want to see you for an appointment we will contact you about booking a routine appointment.

We might tell you about a better way to treat your problem such as your local pharmacy, or a clinician may be able to provide advice without you needing an appointment.

Why do I need to answer so many questions on my Anima form?  Are they really all relevant?

Anima will ask you questions depending on answers you have already given on the form.  Though some questions may seem irrelevant, it helps the triage team to understand your condition better or identify any other potential health issues.

I cannot find the right form on Anima for my problem what do I do?

If you are submitting a new medical request but are not sure which health issue to select, click on “My problem isn’t listed above” at the bottom of the page.  You will be able to continue to complete your request from there.

What is the “clinician-led triage team” who does it consist of?

The triage team assesses the urgency and best course of treatment for every patient’s medical request.

Our triaging team consists of a group of experienced clinicians, who will review medical requests and make all clinical decisions on patient care, and these clinicians are supported by our reception team colleagues who work under the direction of these clinicians to help process patient requests. This allows the clinicians in the triage team to focus on ensuring people receive the best care to meet their needs – less time on paperwork and more time for helping patients, which is what everyone wants!

Likewise, we also receive non-medical requests through Anima. Our admin colleagues will deal with these admin requests directly, allowing the clinicians to focus on triaging medical requests.
